Feeling nervous? Completely understandable!
When you get to the rooms, you will be required to fill in paperwork if you haven't done so already. We will run through the limitations of confidentiality, and I will ask you questions about yourself, your life, why you are attending and what you hope to gain from therapy. This may sound daunting, and while it is important that I gather this information, my primary goal for you in the first session is to help you feel less anxious about your visit. Together we will work towards your goal.
We chat. During these sessions you will learn, you will explore and examine, and make connections. You may adopt new approaches (thoughts, behaviours), acquire new skills (more tools for your psychological toolbox), gain new perspectives.
There is no single "right way" to "do therapy". We will "do therapy" your way, at your pace.
